On September 29, 2023, the United Auto Workers (UAW) began a strike against General Motors, Ford Motor, and Stellantis after negotiations between the UAW and the auto makers were not settled prior to the expiration of the union contracts.

Pausing to support, recognize and celebrate workers is the primary focus of the Alabama NAACP Labor and Industry Committee. This year’s Worker and Human Rights Breakfast did not disappoint as it was hosted in one of Alabama’s most fun cities, Mobile. The breakfast kicks off the annual convention as the first official gathering of the convention.
